Synergy between public space politics and mobility strategies
¿Hasta qué punto y en qué circunstancias movilidad, como aspecto funcional e inevitable del entorno humano,
se puede convertir en un elemento afirmativo de espacio público dándole un nuevo significado y un valor
añadido? Diálogo entre movilidad y espacio público se puede explicar mediante la comprensión de las
estrategias de movilidad como partidario de la integración de diferentes lógicas urbanas, observando
infraestructura como un elemento de configuración de espacio público y al cuestionar transporte como pivote
del carácter e identidad de espacio público. El objetivo principal de esta discusión es la integración urbana y
contextual de los sistemas de transporte vistos como confluencias de lógica urbana y lógica de transporte
desarrolladas como una sola expresión. Armonizando esta paradoja es posible crear sinergias entre espacio
público y transporte que ganan nuevas dimensiones.Up to which point and under which circumstances mobility, as a functional and an inevitable aspect of the
human environment, can become an affirmative element of public space giving it a new significance and an
additional value? Dialog between mobility and public space can be explained by understanding mobility
strategies as a supporter of integration of different urban logics, by observing infrastructure as an element of
public space configuration and by questioning transport as a pivot of public space character and identity. The
main focus of this discussion is on mobility lines, specifically urban and contextual integration of transport
systems seen as a crossroads between urban and transport logic, developed as a single expression.
Harmonizing this paradox it is possible to create synergies between public space and mobility which gain new
dimensions
El sistema de tránsito como proyecto de urbanidad
Up to which point a transit system, a primarily utilitarian element of the
city, could become a positive constituent of urban context, giving it a new
significance and an additional value? In the last few decades, there is a relatively
new and increasing phenomenon in urbanism which is to put more
effort into the integration of transit system and its surrounding. In different
regions of the world, multidisciplinary teams of planners are working on
many-sided urban projects along the transit routes in order to establish a
stronger dialog between mobility and the built environment, regardless the
transport mode, size of city or urban context. The objective of this discussion
is to give a general overview of this phenomenon and to evaluate some common
ideas or outcomes.Hasta qué punto el sistema de tránsito, un elemento principalmente utilitario
de la ciudad, podrÃa convertirse en un constituyente afirmativo del
contexto urbano, dándole un nuevo significado y un valor adicional? En las
últimas décadas, existe un fenómeno relativamente nuevo y creciente en urbanismo,
de poner más esfuerzo en la integración del sistema de tránsito en
su entorno. En las diferentes regiones del mundo los equipos multidisciplinarios
de planificadores trabajan en los proyectos urbanos multifacéticos a
lo largo de las rutas de tránsito para establecer un diálogo más intensivo
entre la movilidad y el entorno construido, independientemente del modo
de transporte, tamaño de la ciudad o contexto urbano. El objetivo de esta
breve discusión es dar una visión general de este fenómeno y evaluar algunas
ideas o resultados comunes
Infrastrutture come Occasione di Arte Pubblica per la Valorizzazione e l’Identità del Paesaggio
This article explores complexity of conceptualization of transport infrastructure as an affirmative element of urban landscape, through design process which amalgamates distinctive qualities and aesthetic excellence with its operational and serviceable character. The study is exemplified through case of tram system in Strasbourg and it consists out of four parts. First part describes synergy between modern trams as mobility strategy and a renewal of public space as a part of that comprehensive strategy. Second part is a theoretical framework and reflects about relationship between infrastructure and sense of the place. Third part is analysis of three representative intermodal nodes with the quality of an assemblage within their urban landscapes. The last part summarizes the indicators of design and author’s position applied to conceive these projects.Questo articolo esplora la complessità nella comprensione delle infrastrutture di trasporto come elementi positivi del paesaggio urbano mediante processi progettuali che uniscono specifiche qualità ed eccellenza estetica con le relative caratteristiche d’operatività e d’uso. Questo studio è tratta dall’esempio del sistema tramviario di Strasburgo e consiste di quattro parti. La prima descrive la sinergia tra tram moderni come strategia di mobilità e il rinnovo dello spazio pubblico come parte di quella stessa strategia. La seconda parte è una struttura teorica e riflette sul rapporto tra le infrastrutture e il senso dei luoghi. La terza è l’analisi di tre nodi intermodali la cui comune caratteristica è l’unità con il relativo paesaggio urbanistico. L’ultima parte sintetizza i parametri del progetto e l’uso che l’autore ne fa per la concezione di questi progetti
